US Supreme Court Justice Receives More Gifts From Billionaires Than Known

A U.S. Supreme Court judge has admitted over three decades that he is already accepting more luxury travel and multimillionaire gifts into his office than anticipated, investigative journalism organization ProPublica said this Thursday.

According to ProPublica, Judge Clarence Thomas has accepted at least 38 luxury trips from U.S. millionaires that have not yet been reported, including stays at luxury “resorts” in the states of Florida and Jamaica, in addition to 26 private jet trips. , eight helicopter flights and tickets to sporting events.

Many of these trips were made in the company of his wife, Virginia “Ginny” Thomas, a conservative activist who has been involved in a campaign promoted by Donald Trump to change the results of the presidential election, which he lost to Joe Biden in 2020.

The problem with travel is that Thomas doesn’t mention it on the financial statements he must file with the Supreme Court under the anti-corruption laws passed after the Watergate scandal in the 1970s.

ProPublica had already reported in April that Thomas had vacationed for more than two decades on superyachts and private jets paid for by prominent GOP financier and multimillionaire Harlan Crow.

At the time, ProPublica reported that Thomas had traveled the world on Crowe’s superyacht as well as his private jet and traveled with him to an exclusive “resort” for men in California, as well as staying at a multimillionaire’s ranch in East Texas.

Thomas, 75, was nominated in 1991 by then-Republican President George W. Bush (1989-1993) and in his more than 30 years in office, that is, for life, has held some of the most conservative positions on issues such as law on board or the rights of the LGBTQ+ community.
