Russia’s Artem Nych (Glassdrive-Q8-Anicolor) took the lead in the 84th Tour of Portugal cycling on Tuesday after the sixth round won by Spaniard Luis Angel Mate (Euskaltel-Euskadi).
At the end of the 168.5km race between Penamacore and Guarda, Mate won in 4:24.59 hours, 14 seconds behind Niha and 47 seconds behind Spaniard Ivan Cobo (Kern Pharma).
Overall, Nutsch is now 27 seconds ahead of Spain’s Delio Fernandez (AP Hotels&Resorts-Tavira-Farense) in the previous yellow jersey and 30 seconds ahead of Colin Stussi (Voralberg).
On Wednesday, the peloton takes a rest day and returns to the track the next day with a 162.6 km junction between Torre de Moncorvo and Serra do Laruco in Montalegre, with a finish line coinciding with a first class mountain.
