Manchester City won the European Super Cup by beating Sevilla on penalties in Piraeus, Greece.
In the 25th minute, after a cross from former Sporting player Marcos Acuña, Yousef El Nesiri, with an accurate header, put the Spaniards ahead on the scoreboard.
In the 63rd minute, a young Cole Palmer equalized with a help from Rodri, another header of the match.
At the end of regular time, with the score 1:1, the game went to a penalty shootout, where citizens lost, winning 5-4.
The Spaniards awarded the fifth penalty to former Sporting player Nemanja Gudelg. The failure of the Serb, who sent the ball to the Ederson crossbar, predetermined the defeat of Sevilla from last year’s Champions League winner.
