Nurse Lucy Letby, responsible for the deaths of seven babies and the attempted murder of six, was sentenced to life in prison on Monday. Information provided by Sky News.
In sentencing, the judge emphasized the deep evil in the actions of the perpetrator.
“A deep evil has happened that borders on sadism… you have no remorse. There are no extenuating circumstances, the crimes are serious enough to justify a life sentence. I sentence you to life imprisonment. I declare that the provisions for early release do not apply. do not apply. Spend the rest of the days in a pre-trial detention center,” he said.
In court, some families of children could not help crying.
A 33-year-old woman committed crimes between 2015 and 2016 in Countess Chester Hospital. He even injected the children with milk, insulin and air.
The father of one of the survivors said on Monday that his daughter became seriously disabled after being attacked by a nurse. The girl is blind, she has cerebral palsy and progressive scoliosis (curvature of the spine).
The shocking data discovered during the investigation made it possible to realize that Letby acted cold-bloodedly and persistently, killing his victims.
“I killed them on purpose because I’m not good enough to take care of them. I’m a terrible person. I’m bad, and I did it, ”one could read in a note found in the murder house.
Last Friday, a nurse who denied the allegations was found guilty of killing seven newborns and attempting to kill six.
Lucy Letby is already considered one of the UK’s most feared “serial killers” of babies in modern times.
