Mentioning that SCML is “reviewing its sponsorship plan for sporting events” and promising to schedule a meeting with the provider, Ana Jorge, via the social networking site Twitter, João Paulo Correia told Lusa that he hoped the cuts would be kept to a minimum at the meeting. scheduled for next week, which will take place on Wednesday or Thursday.

The secretary of state emphasizes that the government can only determine the proportion of cuts if sponsorship-related organizations cooperate, since Santa Casa de Lisboa imposes “individual negotiations with reserved information” as a condition for supporting each sports organization, but acknowledges that the planned revision may interfere with some sporting events and jeopardize adapted sports projects such as wheelchair handball, according to the respective federation.
