Michael Jordan became the richest basketball player of all time after completing the sale of the Charlotte Hornets, the NBA team he owned. The deal brought him 3.5 billion dollars (about 3.2 billion euros).
The former basketball legend who led the Chicago Bulls to six NBA championships in the 1990s has given up his majority stake in the Hornets.
In accordance with daily mailJordan handed over control of the franchise to a consortium led by American entrepreneurs Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall. The basketball team claims the former player retains a minority stake in the NBA team.
Considered by many to be the best player in NBA history, Michael Jordan built a commercial empire after signing with US-based Nike in the 1980s.
