The territorial presidents of the Spanish Football Federation are demanding the immediate resignation of Luis Rubiales as president of the RFEF. “Following recent events and unacceptable behavior that has seriously damaged the image of Spanish football, the presidents are asking Luis Rubiales to step down immediately as President of the RFEF,” reads a statement posted on their social media.
The territorial presidents say they will call on “the relevant authorities to carry out a deep and urgent organizational restructuring of the Federation’s strategic positions in order to pave the way for a new phase of governance in Spanish football.”
“The Committee of Presidents unanimously supported Pedro Rocha to lead a new phase in which dialogue and reconciliation with all football institutions is the line to be followed. We make ourselves available to CDS and all institutions involved to continue building the candidature together. for the 2030 World Cup,” they conclude.
