This Monday, Altice Portugal stated that it “takes no responsibility” for a glitch in the VAR system used in Saturday’s game against Aroca.
“No faults were found in the VAR support system and no replacements were made,” the company said in a statement.
Read the statement:
As soon as the technical teams were convinced that the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) had a low battery due to a power failure in the outlet provided by the Porto Football Club, they immediately connected a second UPS, fully charged, as a result of which it is possible to restore the systems and the corresponding VAR services.
During the aforementioned failure in the video refereeing system and before using the second UPS, the technical teams of Altice and Porto Football Club checked on the spot for a power failure in the electric socket of the Dragão Stadium.
It should be noted that it was the redundancy of its infrastructure, due to the presence of a second UPS, that made it possible to resume the operation of the video arbitration system.
