This Monday, Benfica, Porto, Sporting Braga and Sporting will be seeded into the four groups of the 2023/24 Football League Cup, along with the eight qualifying teams.
The first four players of the 2022/23 I League season will be divided into separate groups, with two opponents among the “survivors”, which also includes main division players Arroca, Casa Pia, Estoril Praia and Farense, as well as ABC, Leixoes, Nacional and Tondela . from the second tier.
The group stage draw for the 17th edition of the League Cup is scheduled for 12:00 at the headquarters of the Portuguese Professional Football League (LPFP) in Porto.
The winners of each group will meet each other in the final four, again scheduled in Leiria, with the semi-finals on January 23 and 24 and the final on January 27.
Benfica holds the record for most wins in the tournament with seven, three more than Sporting, in a history that also includes Sporting Braga with two titles, Moreirense, Vitoria de Setubal and Porto ” – one by one.
