TSF radio workers go on strike on September 20

A plenary meeting of TSF Radio workers announced a 24-hour strike on September 20 due to the non-implementation of wage adjustments and food standard increases retroactive to January 2023.

This Monday, a meeting was held to analyze the situation, which the Plenum of TSF workers unanimously considers to be repeated “disrespect” for professionals in various radio industries by the administration of the Global Media Group.

“Following the continuous reduction of Radio’s resources due to the responsibilities of several administrations, it appears that the current Board of Directors (CA) has also failed to live up to its commitments, be it in terms of investment or failure to implement proposed adjustments. salaries and ration increases are retroactive from January 2023,” the statement said.

According to the note, the proposal, presented in June and “not rejected” by the workers, envisaged the continuation of the negotiation dialogue regarding 2024, but it remains “in limbo due to the steps taken by the Union of Journalists and the Workers’ Union remains unanswered. Telecommunications and audiovisual workers to know when the offer will be applied.”

The Plenum of TCF employees rejects the lack of response from the administration regarding this negotiation process, the letter says.

Also, according to workers, in recent months, “there have been cases of delayed wages, unacceptable situations have been aggravated, in the case of the last month, by a complete lack of prior notice or justification on the part of the administration.”

“This pattern of disrespect for employees took on new contours after the announcement of the dismissal of the current TCF director and the appointment of a new name, without hearing the TCF editorial board,” they condemn.

Thus, the TSF Workers’ Plenum “does not understand and finds strange the correlation contained in the September 11 statement, where changes in the Group’s senior management are justified by “the strategic option, namely the elimination of all executive directors.” situations where there is duplication of functions.”

As the administration itself said, in a statement dated September 8, Domingos de Andrade ceased his duties on the board of directors and with the extinction of the position of CEO of the Global Media Group (GMG) editorial office, “it is not clear where there is a duplication of functions of managers,” the note said.

Moreover, they emphasize that TSF, as acknowledged in an internal memo from the administration, is an exception within GMG, as “all editorial guidelines for the various brands and publications will remain the same.”

According to workers, “the strangeness is compounded when the administration moves forward with a replacement while it claims to want to promote a process of consultation, reflection and analysis that extends to all areas of the group and which will be a fundamental step towards the preparation and completion of the Global Strategic Plan” .

The Plenary Meeting of TSF workers reaffirms full confidence and solidarity with the current management and, in particular, with Domingos de Andrade, who, since taking office, has maintained “scrupulous respect for the autonomy and editorial freedom of the editorial office, giving priority above all others – the value of the news in accordance with ethical principles of the Code of Ethics.”

TSF workers also note the “decisive role” of Domingos de Andrade in changing the premises of the Porto Production Center, decisive for radio, with “the least possible impact on operations, at a time when the administration did not propose any solution.” for this change.”

According to employees, a distinctive feature of the current management is also the “uncompromising protection of the editorial powers enshrined in the Law.”
