A resident of Lusada, a firefighter in Sapadores do Porto, will connect his home with Paris by bicycle from Monday. The purpose of the trip is to gather support for social institutions in the municipality, as announced on Tuesday.
According to the Lousada municipality, a bank account will be published for each stage “so that people can contribute.”
The amount collected at each of the 10 planned stages, in agreement with representatives of the municipality, will go to the needs of the social facility.
Joaquim Aires, 37, mentioned in the municipality’s statement, says his initiative stems from his desire to help.
“I’m a firefighter, and the instinct to help those in need is part of who I am,” he notes.
The first stage will connect Lusada with Mirandela with a length of 145 kilometers.
