Prosecutors have launched an investigation into the case of a one-year-old child who died on Tuesday in a car parked at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the New University of Lisbon in Monte da Caparica.
“The start of the investigation has been confirmed,” the Prosecutor General’s Office said in response to the Lusa agency.
On Tuesday, the Institute of Emergency Medicine received a location alert: a medical vehicle, an ambulance and a mobile psychological emergency unit were transported to the college campus in the municipality of Almada, Setubal district.
The baby was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Almada Volunteer Fire Department, the alarm was raised by the child’s father around 3 p.m., who forgot the child in the car that morning.
A fire department source said the child attended daycare on campus.
