The Italian international footballer Leonardo Bonucci will sue Juventus, the club he represented for 12 seasons, for moral and professional damages, he told the audiovisual group Mediaset this Thursday.
“After much suffering, I decided to sue Juventus. I read and heard so many lies coming from the club and the coach,” explained Bonucci, who now represents German club Union Berlin.
In an extensive interview with the Mediaset group, the experienced 36-year-old central defender admitted that he felt humiliated and explained why.
“Giuntoli (sporting director) and Manna (his right-hand man) came to my house to tell me that I was no longer part of the group and that my presence was an obstacle to the development of the team. Hearing this, after playing more than 500 games for this club, was humiliating,” said the Portuguese’s teammate Diogo Leite at Union Berlin.
The defender, who played 121 times for the Azzurri, made it clear that the legal procedure “is not a question of money”: “If there is any damage, it will be donated to charity.”
Bonucci had one year remaining on his contract with Juventus, the club where he spent most of his career.
