The entire country is under a yellow warning due to bad weather

This Saturday, mainland Portugal is completely under a yellow warning due to the forecast of rain, strong winds and rough seas, announced the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

Warnings for periods of “rain or showers, sometimes heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms” are in effect from 6:23 a.m. this Saturday in all districts except Braganca, where heavy rain is only expected from midday.

In Castelo Branco, Guarda and Bragança the yellow warning will last until 21:00, while in the areas of Viseu, Vila Real, Santarem and Portalegre the rain is expected to last until 18:00.

In Braga, Coimbra, Beja, Viana do Castelo, Porto and Évora, heavy rain will continue until 15:00, in Aveiro, Leiria and Faro until 12:00, and in Lisbon and Setubal it will stop in mid-morning.

The districts of Viseu, Guarda, Santarém, Leiria, Castelo Branco, Aveiro and Coimbra are expected to experience renewed heavy rain on Sunday.

The IPMA has also placed several areas under a yellow warning level for Sunday due to the risk of strong winds from the southern quadrant of the coast with gusts that could reach 80 kilometers per hour.

This is the case with Braga, Coimbra, Aveiro, Leiria, Viana do Castelo and Porto.

The forecast of heavy seas with waves up to 4.5 meters high in the early hours and Sunday morning in the districts of Braga, Coimbra, Aveiro, Leiria, Lisbon, Viana do Castelo and Porto also prompted the IPMA to issue a yellow signal. warning.

A yellow warning, the least severe on a scale of three, is issued by IPMA whenever a risk situation arises for certain activities depending on the meteorological situation.

The maximum temperature forecast for this Saturday on the Portuguese mainland will range from 15 degrees Celsius in Guarda to 25 degrees in Beja, Setubal, Santarem and Aveiro.

Minimum temperatures will range from 12 degrees Celsius in Vila Real, Viseu and Guarda to 19 degrees in Aveiro.
