The Romanian Football Federation was punished by playing behind closed doors due to the behavior of fans chanting pro-Serbia in a Euro 2024 qualifier against Kosovo, UEFA said this Wednesday.
On September 12, the Romania-Kosovo (2-0) Group I match was interrupted after 18 minutes due to messages and chants from Romanian fans and did not resume until almost an hour later. .
As such, UEFA has ordered that Romania’s next game as hosts against Andorra on October 15 be played without fans in the stands.
The body that oversees European football also fined the country’s federation, which will have to pay a fine of 40 thousand euros and a further 12 thousand euros, the latter for violating rules for managing a sports facility.
