This Thursday, Chavez officially announced the appointment of Moreno as technical director of the Tras os Montes team, a position that became vacant after the departure of José Gomez. Thus, Moreno leaves the cities of Guimarães and V. Guimarães for the first time as a coach to continue his career in Chaves.
With Moreno’s arrival, Chavez also has a completely new technical team. Nuno Santos accompanies the Guimarães coach, joining Luis Morgado, Nuno Carvalho, Ricardo Jorge and Thiago Castro.
Chaves severed ties with Jose Gomes on Tuesday after five defeats in the Betclich League and one in the Allianz Cup against ABC of the Subseg League, leaving them bottom of Portuguese football’s first tier.
Moreno left V. Guimarães after a year and a month in charge of the team, having finished the previous season in sixth place, just one point behind fifth. Moreno retired from V. Guimarães on 13 August after a narrow victory over Estrela da Amadora.
Moreno will make his debut on the Chaves bench on Sunday against Estrela da Amador at the Estadio Municipal Engeneiro Manuel Branco Teixeira in Chaves.
