A stop at the Porto administration is available to discuss and prevent closure for 10 days.

The management of the Stop shopping center in Porto confirmed this Friday that it had received a notice from the chamber indicating the closure of the premises in 10 working days, which remains open for discussion in search of a solution.

In a statement, the authority said it was notified on Thursday, meaning the 10-day cessation of use of the Stop Mall, which houses musicians and merchants, ends on October 6, and the planned closure will not take place. This Friday.

The confirmation comes after the mayor of Porto also announced on Thursday that the municipality had failed to notify the management of the Stop shopping center condominium of its intention to close the premises, with its closure being delayed by 10 working days.

The administration, declaring that it is “focused” on the maintenance and proper functioning of the Stop shopping center, also addresses the owners, tenants and other residents of the building, noting that it “remains ready for dialogue.”

“The condominium administration, with the support of the Assembly Council, remains available for constant dialogue with the Porto City Council in order to find a final solution to regularize the conditions of use of the Stop shopping center building,” the administration states. in a statement sent to Lusa.

According to the management of this shopping center, accompanied by the Technical Committee, a meeting was held with the National Emergency Management and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) to receive and provide clarification on the report received on September 4.

“This meeting was very productive in providing clarity on the themes outlined in the report, namely, the administration advises that several immediate actions are already being developed to mitigate and correct some of the findings about the security deficiencies described in the report,” he describes.

The administration adds that it will seek clarification from the Porto Chamber on the issues raised by ANEPC at the meeting.

On Thursday, Porto Mayor Rui Moreira said the municipality intends to organize a crowdfunding campaign with musicians to raise money for necessary restoration work on the building.

“I am very interested in solving the Stop problem and I remembered that we could organize a series of solidarity concerts that were “crowdfunding” that could help the owners do the minimum work for this. [Stop] be able to function. We have the opportunity to do this in Colise and Rosa Mota,” he said, noting that this is an “indirect way” for the municipality to help musicians and owners.

ALMA, an association of shopkeepers, musicians and artists, also noted in a post on Instagram on Thursday that the shopping center “will not be closed yet.”

The association said a meeting was held at Porto City Hall and that the “order” to close first had to be received by the mall’s management, which happened a few hours later, the management said today.

On September 8, the owners and tenants of the Stop shopping center were notified by Porto City Council services that they had up to 10 working days to vacate the building, which would end this Friday.

Speaking to Lusa, the president of the Stop Cultural Association of Musicians (ACM), Rui Guerra, said that owners and tenants were notified through a notice posted on the door of the shopping center.

The notice, signed by the director of the Department of Municipal Inspection, announced the decision of the mayor of Porto to “determine the cessation of use of the building, all autonomous units and the parking lot.”

The Stop, which has operated as a cultural space with rehearsal rooms and studios for more than 20 years, closed most of its sections on July 18, leaving nearly 500 artists and shop owners with nowhere to go, but reopened on July 4, August. , with a fire truck at the door.
