The classic match between Ajax and Feyenoord in the sixth round of the Dutch Football League was suspended this Sunday after fans threw torches on the pitch of the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam while the visitors were winning 3-0.
A brace from Mexico’s Santiago Jimenez (09 and 18 minutes) and a goal from Brazil’s Igor Paixao (37) gave the Dutch champions the lead in Amsterdam, where the match was abandoned twice, leading to a suspension in the 55th minute, faced with poor behavior from Ajax fans who threw, in addition to torches, and other items, such as bottles.
In the vicinity of the Johan Cruyff Arena, some fans destroyed one of the main entrances to the stadium, while others clashed with police, who were forced to intervene on horseback.
Since 1977, the Amsterdam team, with only one victory in the tournament, has not lost at home with a difference of three goals at half-time.
