The minor, who died on Saturday after diving into the Cavado River in Prado, Vila Verde, was just days away from being reunited with his parents. Aires Rafael Graca, 14, was from Cape Verde and was planning to return to this country. For the last two years, the young man has been living with his uncle and uncle in the municipality of Vila Verde.
A young man and his friends spent the day jumping from the Prado bridge into the river. On social media, several people are warning about the dangers of this practice, which is common in this place.
Aires Rafael was nevertheless rescued from the river and resuscitation measures were carried out. Vila Verde firefighters rushed him to Braga Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.
The group of Prado schools to which the minor belonged issued a note of condolence on Sunday following the tragic death of the young man.
