This Monday, Sporting moved level with Porto in first place in the Portuguese Football League after beating Rio Ave 2-0 at home in the match ending the sixth round.
Paulinho scored his fifth league goal in the 10th minute to give the Lions the lead, with the final result coming in the 26th minute from Englishman Marcus Edwards to give Sporting their fifth win in six I League matches.
Thanks to this triumph, the Lions now have 16 points, the same as Porto and one more than Benfica, while Rio Ave are left with five points, one above the direct relegation zone .
