The creepy game “Blue Whale” encourages young people to commit self-harm and suicide and has already claimed several victims around the world. The online game, available on social networks, was born in Russia and Brazil. Brazilian authorities have already investigated dozens of cases in which teenagers committed suicide at the behest of game administrators.
Linguistic proximity means that many young Portuguese are already familiar with the game.
It consists of 50 tasks, such as “cut your hand with a blade” or “prick your hand with a needle.” Administrators also send movies and music that young people should listen to. The last task is suicide. The victims are almost always fragile young people who are threatened if they leave the game.
A creepy game between adults inspired by the Blue Whale challenge game ended badly for a 35-year-old English man this Sunday. The victim was with a group of friends in Pedrogan Grande and was found to have been stabbed.
