The platform for replacing ramps on the A23 and A25 has accused the Government of failing to say anything about the announcement of a toll reduction program and has stressed that the next government budget will only see it scrapped.
“In view of such significant delays and failure to fulfill this word, as well as in view of the deterioration of social and living conditions of the population, the Platform for replacing Scut on the A23 and A25 highways very clearly states that the State Budget (GB) for 2024 can only fix the replacement of Scut on A23, A24 and A25 with the abolition of tolls on these roads,” the group emphasized in a statement.
The group of organizations pointed the finger at the government for “failing to meet deadlines” and felt that “this lack of words and lack of political ethics discredits the minister.” [Ana Abrunhosa]who speaks without confidence in his own abilities and expresses his disapproval of the Prime Minister.”
The Platform also recalled that when the decision was made to reduce the cost by 50 percent, “the government, through shoddy tricks, reduced only 30 percent,” and added that the ministers of cohesion and labor “promised a reduction in cost” during the election campaign. 2022 and 2023 and did not do this.”
“This indicates that the government had more than enough time to smoothly and systematically replace Skat,” the Platform emphasized in the same note.
The group announced a meeting on October 11, the day after the OA, at which decisions will be made.
In July, Cohesion Minister Ana Abruñosa said the government would announce a program to reduce tolls on the former Scat “very soon” and admitted that toll abolition could only be considered once the concessions had ended.
In May, the Minister of Territorial Cohesion said she felt she was “always in debt” because she had yet to reduce tolls, but stressed that relevant ministries were working on the proposal.
Ana Abrunosa recalled on May 19 that during the campaign she promised to reduce the old Scat and that this measure is included in the government program and in this year’s OE.
