Ministry of Justice challenges lawsuit to evict Lisbon appeal judges

Seguradora Fidelidade has already sold – contrary to what we reported this Thursday – the building on Rua Nova de Almada in the center of Lisbon, from which the judges of the Lisbon Court of Appeal will be evicted. The sale was completed in December 2022 to a French capital fund. Lisbon Relation has already been notified of the impending eviction and ordered to vacate the 10 offices it had there back in February. Among them is Carlos Alexandre, now a judge, who only “took possession” of the premises earlier this month. You will have to move suitcases and luggage.

However, the Ministry of Justice challenged the eviction. In response to the Lusa agency, the Ministry of Justice guarantees that it has appealed the presented eviction claim, not agreeing with its effectiveness. The Ministry of Justice also says alternative arrangements for locating offices in other government buildings are being explored.

The President of Lisbon Relation also confirmed the news about CM and recalled the MoJ’s refusal to renovate the premises of the old Boa Hora court, which would have allowed higher courts to use it.
