Without naming the competition or the name in particular CMTVCT spares no internal criticism and warns that it will be difficult to find “explanations and blame” for the “drop in audiences” if it continues “as if it doesn’t exist.” “If news on a cable channel is ahead of TV Magazine, then there may be several reasons for this, and RTP may not even be responsible for some or any of them,” writes CT, citing a specific example. “If we were behind three other stations, including this cable channel, on election night in Madeira, there may be reasonable explanations for that as well.” And he even accuses: “Alien populism, our elitism, society’s preference for a knife and a bowl to the detriment of the serious information that we strive to provide? Our inability to interest the public in serious information? We must reflect on these issues and stop the short-legged denial that will always end up staring us in the face.”
