A man in his 50s died this Monday after an iron gate fell on his company’s campus in Campia (Vuzela), an assistant to the Volunteer Firefighters team, Vuzela, told Luza.
“The warning we received was about a person who could be trapped in the gate. When we arrived at the scene, the gentleman was trapped between the iron gates and the ground and had a cardiac arrest,” said Pedro Matheus.
The command assistant added that “the firefighters were still conducting resuscitation maneuvers, but when the VMER doctor arrived [Viatura Médica de Emergência e Reanimação] was declared dead at the scene.
Pedro Matheus said that “you, the owner of the company where the accident happened, were fixing the gate when it fell and it was the neighbor who raised the alarm when he found it on the ground.”
According to the District Command for Relief Operations (CDOS) of Viseu, the alarm was raised at 13:36, and 11 operators were on site in Campia, the municipality of Vuzela and the district of Viseu, supported by four vehicles.
