The Marathon Club of Portugal announced this Wednesday that the competitions it organizes over the weekend, namely the marathon and half marathon, have sold out, with a total of 25 thousand people registered.
Another race that is no longer accepting registration is the 8K, with all races scheduled for Sunday morning.
Six thousand athletes will compete in the marathon, which will connect Cascais with the Commerce Square in Lisbon, while 10,500 runners will take part in the “half”, starting at Ponte Vasco da Gama and finishing at the Commerce Square.
For the 8 km distance, starting from the Ponte half marathon and the target set in the Parc des Nations, 8,500 people were registered.
“The fact that thousands of athletes have exhausted all the distance options we offer is something extraordinary, especially considering that this year we will have the largest number of foreign athletes ever present,” commented Carlos Moya, President of the Marathon Club Portugal.
The Mimosa Passeio da Família and EDP New Generation events, which will take place on Saturday, continue, registration is open on the official website.
On Friday, the organization will announce the names of the elite athletes who will take part in the main competition.
