Ethiopians Tesfaye and Mulisa win the Lisbon Marathon

Ethiopians Birhan Tesfaye and Aberu Mulisa won the men’s and women’s races respectively at the Lisbon Marathon this Sunday.

Among the men, Tesfaye covered the 42.195-kilometer distance in 2:09.31 minutes, leaving behind Kenyan Douglas Chebii, who spent 18 seconds more (2:09.49 minutes), and Ugandan Timothy Toroitich, who took the podium in the Portuguese capital and completed the race in 2:09.58.

José Silva Souza was the top Portuguese on the course, finishing 10th with a time of 2:25.07.

In the women’s race, Ethiopian Mulisa covered the distance in 2:25.06 hours and finished completely alone. Two more Ethiopians finished second with Fantu Gelasa finishing second in 2:29.20 and compatriot Kasu Lemene in 2:29.32.
