Twenty-five municipalities are in the maximum fire danger zone

According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), this Monday 25 municipalities in the districts of Santarém, Portalegre, Castelo Branco, Viseu, Guarda and Faro pose the highest risk of rural fires.

The municipalities in greatest danger are Lagos, Portimão, Silves, Loule, Tavira, São Bras de Alportel (Faro), Chamusca, Vila Nova da Barquinha, Constantia, Abrantes, Tomar, Ferreira do Zezere, Sardol, Masau (Santarem), Gavian. , Niça (Portalegre), Vila de Rey, Vila Velha de Rodao, Poença a Nova (Castelo Branco), Carregal do Sal, Nelas, Mangualde, Penalva do Castelo (Viseu), Fornos de Algodres and Gouveia (Guarda).

IPMA also placed more than 80 municipalities in the districts of Faro, Beja, Santarem, Leiria, Portalegre, Coimbra, Castelo Branco, Guarda, Viseu, Porto, Braga, Vila Real and Bragança at a very high risk of rural fires.

Other municipalities in Beja, Évora, Faro, Lisbon, Leiria, Santarem, Portalegre, Coimbra, Aveiro, Viseu, Braga, Viana do Castelo and Bragança are at high risk of fire.

The IPMA expects fire danger in some areas to continue until at least Friday.

This risk, defined by IPMA, has five levels: from low to maximum. Calculations are based on air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and precipitation over the last 24 hours.

IPMA is forecasting generally clear skies across the continent this Monday, a temporary increase in cloud cover due to high clouds, generally light winds, a slight drop in temperatures in the southern region, especially a coastal high, and a slight increase in temperatures in the south. coast north of Cape Carvoeiro.

The minimum temperature will range from 13 degrees Celsius (in Braga and Bragança) to 22 degrees (in Portalegre), while the maximum temperature will range from 28 (in Aveiro and Guarda) to 37 (in Santarem).
