15 municipalities in six districts are in the maximum fire danger zone

According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), fifteen municipalities in the districts of Leiria, Santarem, Portalegre, Castelo Branco, Viseu and Guarda pose the highest risk of rural fires this Tuesday.

The municipalities at greatest risk are Marinha Grande (Leiria), Tomar, Ferreira do Zezere, Vila Nova da Barquinha, Constantia, Sardol, Massan, Abrantes (Santarem), Vila de Rei, Proença a Nova , Vila Velha de Rodan (Castelo Branco), Gavian, Nisa (Portalegre), Mangualde (Viseu) and Fornos de Algodres (Guarda).

IPMA also placed around 80 municipalities in the districts of Faro, Leiria, Santarem, Portalegre, Castelo Branco, Coimbra, Aveiro, Viseu, Guarda, Porto, Braga, Vila Real and Bragança at a very high risk of rural fires.

The IPMA expects fire danger in some areas to continue until at least Friday.

This risk, defined by IPMA, has five levels: from low to maximum. Calculations are based on air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and precipitation over the last 24 hours.

IPMA is forecasting partly cloudy to clear skies for the continent this Tuesday, a temporary increase in cloudiness due to high clouds, generally light winds, the possibility of fog or mist in some coastal locations north of Cape Espichel and a slight drop in maximum temperatures. .

The minimum temperature will range from 12 degrees Celsius (in Bragança) to 19 degrees Celsius (in Castelo Branco and Lisbon), and the maximum temperature will range from 27 (in Guarda and Aveiro) to 36 degrees (in Santarem).
