Porto midfielder Steven Estakio was injured while playing for the Canadian national team.

Soccer player Steven Eustaquio, who represents Porto of Portugal’s First League, was injured during Canada’s training camp and will miss the friendly against Japan, the Canucks said Wednesday, without disclosing any details.

In a note posted on social media, the Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) announced the absence of the midfielder, who was part of interim coach Mauro Biello’s 23-man squad, for Friday’s visit to the Japanese in Niigata.

Steven Estakio will soon return to Olival to be re-examined by Porto’s medical department and begin the recovery process, at a stage in which the injured Dragons already included defenders Pepe, Marcano and Zaido, as well as striker Gabriel Veron.
