This Thursday, the American president announced to the country that he would send an “urgent” request to Congress for funding for “national security needs,” ensuring that the United States would be safer if it helped Ukraine and Israel.
“This is a smart investment that will pay dividends for American security for generations,” Joe Biden said in a rare speech from the White House Oval Office that was broadcast live on the nation’s major television networks.
In a prime-time speech in which he alternated wars involving Ukraine and Israel, Biden said that “American leadership is what holds the world together” and the alliances he has with other countries keep Americans “secure in America.”
