Argentinean Papu Gomez, disqualified for two years for using doping substances, reacted for the first time to the scandal.
In a post on the social network Instagram, the Monza striker claims that he has always “categorically rejected all forms of doping.”
The basis for his suspension was the results of an unexpected inspection carried out while he was still representing Sevilla.
“The alleged violation relates to the presence of terbutaline in my body due to the fact that I mistakenly and accidentally received a spoonful of syrup from my young son to relieve his cough,” he explained.
The 35-year-old also stresses that therapeutic use of the substance “does not improve athletic performance.”
Now the case is “in the hands of the lawyers” of the Argentine international.
