The PNR has arrested a 50-year-old man suspected of committing several skilled robberies that occurred in the areas of Aveiro and Porto, the victims of which are estimated to have lost more than 50 thousand euros, it was announced this Thursday.
In a statement, GNR Aveiro clarified that the suspect was arrested on Tuesday in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto district, as part of an investigation that lasted about 10 months, and that he was present at the hearing by the Vagos Court and was subject to a coercive measure of restraint.
According to investigators, the suspect “focused his activities on theft from the interior of a vehicle, as well as the theft and use of a vehicle, thus illegally obtaining goods and bank documents, which he used to withdraw cash and pay for goods and services.”
According to authorities, the victims suffered damage worth up to 50 thousand euros.
“As part of the police investigation, the stolen vehicle, bank cards and other items were also recovered and returned to their rightful owners,” the same statement said.
According to the security, the detainee has a criminal record for crimes of a similar nature.
