Sergio Oliveira extends his contract with Porto until 2021. The player was called up by Fernando Santos to take part in the national team’s recent matches against Croatia and Italy.

Sergio Oliveira has extended his contract with Porto until 2021, the Dragons announced this Wednesday on their official website. The 26-year-old, who returned to the Blues and Whites for the 2017/18 season having already spent time in the club’s youth team and made his first team debut in 2009, looked very happy.

“This is a moment where I am very proud to be able to renew my contract with the club that I love, the club that made me the player and person I am today. I will try to repay you as best I can. It’s a moment of joy because you see your work recognized, but also with more responsibility. From now on you are on a different level. As a player, people already look at you completely differently and maybe it’s time to work even harder and not take things easy because there is more responsibility,” the player said.

The midfielder admitted his journey “has had some setbacks” but he has had the help of people who have advised him “in the best way possible throughout this time.” When asked what has changed since 2009, Sergio Oliveira replied: “A lot has changed, I was 17 years old back then and I wasn’t even mature enough to cope with everything that was happening at that time. It was part of my growth.” my journey, but I don’t regret anything, today I’m where I wanted to be. It doesn’t matter whether it took more or less time. Perhaps this time was necessary to shape my behavior.”

The player was called up by Fernando Santos to take part in the national team’s recent matches against Croatia and Italy, playing a few minutes in both matches: “I work first and foremost to be able to play here and be able to give my best every Sunday and help the team . But of course it’s a huge satisfaction to be recognized by the national team and have the opportunity to play for your country.”
