“He threatened me whenever I didn’t give him money. He said he was going to throw me out of the window, that he was going to kill us all.” The message came from the sister of Diogo Cruz, a 20-year-old young man who was stabbed to death by his mother Maria Odete last December in Vale da Amoreira, Moita.
This Thursday, at the next meeting of the Almada court, several witnesses were heard. The 27-year-old sister was the first to testify and said that her mother was a victim of domestic violence at the hands of the victim. Claudino, Diogo’s father, PSP agent and ex-husband of the accused, reported the same scenario. He said that Maria Odete had been the victim of attacks for several years and that Diogo was in bad company. The young man was even shot and was never told who did it.
Fabio, the victim’s cousin, described one episode of violence. “We all decided to go to karaoke as a family. We stopped so I could get the money, and when I returned to the car, Diogo was insulting and attacking my aunt. Then he got out of the car, took a stone, threw it at the car and broke the window,” the young man told the court.
