Clubs meet urgently due to arbitration

The League of Clubs has scheduled an emergency meeting of its arbitration reorganization monitoring committee for next Monday to discuss the new sector governance model being prepared by the FPF Council of Arbitration (CA).

According to the Correio da Manhã, despite the fact that the League was part of the working group that prepared the modus operandi of the external body that will be created to manage the judges, the League was surprised by the release of the final proposal, which is already in public consultation.

This project was presented by CA at the FPF board meeting on Thursday morning, which was attended by Pedro Proença, president of the League of Clubs, who is essentially the vice-president of the FPF board. A few hours later, in the early evening, a statement from Luse made the CA proposal public.

When the SA invited her to join a working group that would develop the creation of an external organization, the League, together with some clubs, created a Monitoring Committee to monitor the development of the process. It is these groups that will meet on Monday to discuss the eight-page document prepared by the AC and which is under public consultation until the end of the year.

It is expected that a new arbitration governance model could come into force next season, but this will always depend on the legislative process, as it is imperative to change the current legal framework, which is independent of sports bodies.

The new external organization will have a board of directors whose members will be appointed by the League, the Portuguese Association of Football Referees and the FPF, who will always have greater responsibility throughout the process due to the imposition of UEFA and FIFA. It is this Board of Directors that will appoint a Director General who will be responsible for determining the composition of judges and video judges, determining training and education parameters, making appointments, preparing and presenting financial and administrative management standards to the administration, and the budget.
