American actress Scarlett Johansson has filed a lawsuit against the company responsible for the application that generates advertising videos using artificial intelligence (AI), for using an image of her created without her permission. The commercial was a 22-second video posted on social network X to promote an app called “Lisa AI: 90’s Yearbook and Avatar.” According to Variety, legal representatives have confirmed that the actress does not represent the brand, and her lawyer Kevin Yorn has already filed a legal claim. “In the normal course of action in these circumstances, we will take advantage of all legal measures at our disposal,” the lawyer said, arguing that this type of action should not be taken “frivolously.” The ad was originally posted on October 28 but has since been removed from the platform. Scarlett Johansson’s case is not unique in Hollywood. Several prominent figures in the general public are becoming victims of image abuse using generative artificial intelligence systems to promote products without the permission of the relevant entities.
