Police in the Basque Country detained three people ahead of Wednesday’s match between Real Sociedad and Benfica. Vasco’s Diary.
According to the newspaper, about 60 Benfica fans surprised Basque fans in Armerias Square, a regular meeting place for Real Sociedad fans, and began clashing.
Videos posted on social media showed firecrackers and chairs being thrown during the protests. The police were called and detained three people, whose club is not yet known.
