Miguel Oliveira leaves the Malaysian Grand Prix after an accident

Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira (Aprilia) has withdrawn from Sunday’s Malaysian MotoGP Grand Prix, the 18th round of the season, after crashing on the seventh of 20 laps of the main race.

Miguel Oliveira, who started from 19th place, crashed at turn nine of the Malaysian circuit in Sepang while running in 20th place.

The Portuguese rider still tried to return to the race, but to no avail.

It was the Almada rider’s fifth crash at the World Motorcycle Speed Championship this season.

Oliveira crashed in Portugal, Spain, Italy and in the sprint race of the Austrian Grand Prix.

In addition to his retirement, the 28-year-old rider also withdrew from competitions in the Netherlands, Austria (main race), Japan and Thailand due to technical problems in the RNF team’s 2022 Aprilia.

After Miguel Oliveira’s crash, Italian rider Enea Bastianini (Ducati) won the Malaysian MotoGP Grand Prix.
