The Lisbon City Council (CML) announced today that it will push for an IMT tax exemption for young people who buy a house in the city worth up to 300 thousand euros, hoping that the measure will be approved by other party forces this year.
As part of the proposal for the municipal budget for 2024, presented on Tuesday at the town hall, the vice-president of the municipality, Filipe Anacoreta Correia (CDS-PP), in charge of finance, announced that the head of the CML will push for a proposal to be exempted from the IMT (municipal tax on onerous transfer of property) for young people under 35 years of age who are buying their own permanent home in the city.
This year, the municipality will propose to extend this exemption to houses worth up to 300 thousand euros, while last year it was proposed to limit the value of houses to 250 thousand euros.
