The Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security said in parliament on Tuesday that an agreement was signed last week to increase social benefits to ensure they start being paid in January.
At a hearing of the Budget and Finance Committee on Tuesday, Ana Mendes Godinho said that on Thursday last week there were increases in pensions, family benefits, guarantees for children, social supplements for the elderly and an increase in social benefits as a result of an increase in the Index of Social Assistance (IAS) .
“Because we believe these structural increases are fundamental to responding to the needs of people and families during the times we live in, we signed these increases for 2024 last Thursday to ensure they can be paid as early as January ” said a government official. .
