A man who attacked his relatives with a machete and a hammer to kill them, blaming them for causing his wife, a victim of domestic violence, to leave home with their three children, was sentenced by a Ponta Delgada court to eight and a half years in prison . years of imprisonment. According to the ruling cited this Monday by the Ministry of Justice, the daughter of the elderly victims left home in May 2021, and two years later the man was accused of domestic violence and rape against her. The attacker was “convinced that it was his partner’s parents who had caused the breakdown of the relationship and provoked her to make a complaint” and in March this year he tried to kill them with a machete and a hammer. He simply couldn’t do it thanks to the intervention of his neighbor. The man, who was detained by the SP at that time, is in custody.
