Portugal will debut in the 2024 European Volleyball Golden League on the third weekend of May, but will not know their opponents until December 13, according to the draw date set for this Tuesday.
The preliminary stage of the 2024 Golden League will take place from May 17 to June 2 and will introduce a new format: the 12 participating teams will no longer be divided into fixed “pools”, but each will have the opportunity to host a tournament in which you can always have different opponents, for a total of six opponents.
Since each tournament features three teams, the organizer will always play on Friday and Sunday, with the visiting team facing each other on Saturday.
The classification will involve all participating teams, and the top four places will advance to the Final Four, which will take place on June 14, 15 and 16, location to be determined.
The Golden League is a competition involving some of Europe’s top teams that gives access to what is known as the Volleyball Nations League.
In the 2023 Golden League, Portugal finished second in Group A, losing only in direct opposition to Turkey, who eventually won the trophy for the third time, beating Ukraine 3-2 in the Croatian city of Zadar. .
