The Argentine striker Angel Di Maria of Benfica said this Thursday that he will leave the Argentine football team with a “lump in his throat” after participating in the 2024 Copa America, which will be held in the United States.
“The Copa America will be the last time I wear the Argentina jersey, with all the pain in my soul and a lump in my throat. I say goodbye to the most wonderful event that has happened in my career. I wore this T-shirt and was sweating. “I felt it with all my pride,” the 35-year-old Reds player wrote on social networks.
The Albiceleste international thanked his fans, family, friends and teammates 136 times, expressing his desire to continue making history.
Playing for Argentina, Di Maria won the Copa America in 2021 and the World Cup in 2022.
The next America’s Cup will be held in the United States from June to July 2024.
