Portuguese footballer Fabio Vieira underwent groin surgery on Monday and will be out of action for several “weeks”, Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta said on Tuesday.
The Portuguese midfielder underwent surgery on the advice of specialist doctors. The Gunners coach said the player initially underwent more conservative treatment.
23-year-old Fabio Vieira is in his second season at Arsenal, who signed him from Porto for 35 million euros plus five goals.
The manager spoke about the midfielder’s situation at a press conference ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League game with Lens, in a group in which the Londoners lead with nine points, ahead of PSV and Lens on five, and Sevilla on two.
