The state diploma with new rules to become a teacher, published this Wednesday in the Diário da República, allows students to teach in the second and final year of a master’s degree in teaching.
The measure comes into force from the next school year and is aimed at combating the shortage of teachers. However, according to Fenprof, these paid trainees (they will receive a gross salary of about 800 euros per month for 12 hours of classes per week) will be placed in front of full-time teachers.
The diploma, published this Wednesday, determines that the provision of services to trainees “shall not result in an insufficient or absent teaching component for teachers in the school group or non-group school.”
Jose Feliciano Costa from Fenprof said: CM that “the schedules will not be taken away from school teachers and cluster employees, but for those employees of the pedagogical zone who compete for internal mobility, thousands of schedules will disappear.” The overspending will affect more than 20 thousand teachers. Hundreds of teachers protested against the approval of the state budget.
