The PSP arrested six men and one woman, aged between 16 and 43, for robberies at gunpoint and extreme violence in several Lisbon parishes. As a result of one of the latest attacks, the victim was left unconscious and with numerous hemorrhages. This robbery took place in the parish of Penha de France and was aimed at stealing a mobile phone.
The suspect in this attack was eventually arrested on November 21 by the Lisbon PSP, which, with the help of five operational criminal investigation units, stopped seven cells that were very active in terms of violent crimes.
Since the beginning of the year, PSP investigative teams have made 256 arrests of robbery suspects throughout the city, 93 of whom were caught red-handed. Of the 256 detainees, 97 were held in pre-trial detention.
The first arrest in the mega-operation took place on the 21st in Benfica. Two suspects were caught red-handed while robbing a group of mobile phones using sharp weapons. A third robber was arrested for committing four aggravated robberies at knifepoint in the parishes of Belem, Calvario and Ajuda. The woman, who worked in the Misericordia parish, was surprised and detained in Cais do Sodré. The suspect was also arrested at the scene of the crime in Arroios Parish for theft of mobile phones by stretch method. The last robber was caught in the Park of Nations.
