This Saturday, Porto beat Famalican 3-0 to move level with Benfica and Sporting at the top of the table, albeit with one more game to play.
After Sérgio Conceição replaced the team’s two full-backs, Jorge Sánchez on the right and João Mendes on the left, Porto took the lead very early. Famalicao’s resistance lasted only 9 minutes when Evanilson opened the scoring with a shot from the penalty area.
However, the Famalicenses’ reaction was strong and caused serious damage to Porto’s defence. Jonder Cadiz has become a real mystery.
Thanks to simple but objective football, the home team were close to a goal: a series of moves ended with Estakio blocking the ball with his hand. After consulting with the video referee, the referee ordered the game to be played, to the despair of the home team.
And while Joao Pedro Sousa’s side tried to sort things out, the Dragons, always led by Galeno, saw Taremi return to goal with a strike late in the first half.
In the second half, only Famalican scored, but the attackers again failed to finish the ball off. Jonder Cadiz, Topic and Pablo were close to goal but missed.
Porto did very little until Francisco Conceição, released by Grujic, isolated to make it 3-0. And even before the final whistle he hit the post. A fair triumph, marked by controversy over the award of a penalty in favor of Famalican with the score 1-0.
