On Friday, the Serbian press reported that Simon Vukcevic, a former Montenegro international who played four seasons for Sporting between 2007 and 2011, was detained at the Gostun border as he tried to leave Serbia and enter Montenegro. The former football player had a pistol and 126 rounds of ammunition with him.
The prosecutor’s office in the Serbian city of Užice accused the former football player of illegal possession of weapons and ammunition, as a result of which he found himself in custody. Vukcevic could be detained for 30 days.
The 37-year-old former player arrived at Sporting in 2007 from Russian side Saturn and stayed at Alvalad for four seasons, during which he appeared in 135 matches, scoring 28 goals.
In 2011 he moved to Blackburn. After playing for other eastern clubs, he later returned to Portugal to represent Chaves in 2016, but only stayed for one season.
