Benfica were held to a 1-1 draw against Farense in Matchday 13 of Football League I today, which could see Sporting further isolate themselves at the top of the competition.
The Algarve side, who suffered a home defeat to Vitória de Guimarães in the last round, took the lead in the 51st minute through Benfica’s Claudio Falcão, who recorded a second straight league draw, but still equalized on 71 thanks to Rafa, but he was unable to completely turn the score around.
With the draw, Benfica regained second place in the competition, now with 30 points, and risk seeing Sporting move further into the lead, where they now have a points lead over the Reds and have one game to play . , in addition to being overtaken by Porto, who are currently in fourth place with 28 points.
